About The Program

Participants will experience 32+ hours of instruction and mentorship under the guidance of Elder Copper Jack, with guest speakers and other Elders and Knowledge Holders connected to the Land and Peoples Relationship Model.

Participants will come together twice a month for two hours virtually (October 2025 - May 2026) to learn and share together. Participants will receive:

  • In-depth learning about the Land and Peoples Relationships Model and the teachings that ground this collaborative planning tool
  • Overview of Canada’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (with a specific focus on No. 13: Climate Action, No. 14: Life on Land, and No. 15: Life Below Water)
  • Space to connect the Land and Peoples Relationship Model to participants’ work and life through a reflection and action project
  • Teachings on how the Land and Peoples Relationship Model can be applied within each participants’ individual context
  • Space to consider how the Land and Peoples Relationship Model relates to a broader national and international context
  • A certificate of completion (upon fulfillment of the criteria)
  • Invitation to apply for the Summer 2026 land-based course in Kwanlin (Whitehorse, Yukon)

In the spirit of reciprocity, and to deepen the impact of the course, participants registering in the course will commit to:

  • Arriving at all sessions prepared (reviewing all pre-session content, etc.)
  • Completing session reflections in a timely manner
  • Notifying the program manager of any absences, foreseen or unforeseen.
  • Generating a short, but detailed end-of-course report that summarizes what they’ve learned from the program, how they have begun to apply what they learned to their work/ studies/ life, and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Ideally this report should be written for an audience of their peers/supervisor(s)/coworkers/their community.
